How I Became a Superhero (Comment Je Suis Devenu Super Heros), written and directed by Douglas Attal. It’s a modern take on the superhero genre set in Paris, France. In the same vein as super-powered shows like The Boys, humanity exists in a world where people aren’t born with special powers. Instead, his super-abilities are drug-induced and spread like wildfire, in some cases, literally.
The actors in the trailer speak French, unsurprisingly, but it has English subtitles for monolingual viewers. Throughout the trailer, viewers meet Naja (Swann Arlaud), a power-hungry supervillain (again, literally) in search of people with abilities. There are also Gary Moreau (Pio Marmaï) and his new partner,
Lieutenant Schaltzmann (Vimala Pons), detectives who are trying to stop Naja before too many innocent people are injured. Based on the high intensity music and quick cuts from one action scene to the next, it seems that How I Became a Superhero might have what it takes to go head-to-head with many of Netflix’s biggest superhero movies.
