Jai Bhim is a greeting and slogan used by the followers of Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, an Indian scholar, social reformer, and father of the Indian constitution. Jai Bhim literally means “Victory for Bhim” referring to B. R. Ambedkar. However, its origin is obscure and can date back to 1818, long before Ambedkar was born.
Jai Bhim is also called as a motto by some political parties such as the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and the Republican Party of India (RPI).
The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, during the Ambedkar Jayanti festival and election rallies greets the citizen with Jai Bhim. Modi paid tribute to Ambedkar and raised the slogan “Jai Bhim” before beginning his speech.
